Skincare 101: Cleansers for Different Skin Types

Posted by Deluxe Shop on

Cleansing is always the first step in any basic skin care routine. A good cleanser is gentle, fragrance and irritant free and doesn’t leave your skin feeling tight or dry after rinsing. It is also important that you choose a cleanser that is suitable for your skin type.

We’ve narrowed down the best cleansers for all different skin types below!

Light foaming cleansers

Suitable for you: if you prefer light-foaming products that thoroughly cleanse your skin, a light foaming cleanser is the perfect choice to remove most types of makeup, cleanse the skin thoroughly and soften your skin. Cleansers don’t have to foam to work properly, but many people prefer foamy textures when cleansing the face.

Skin type: combination or oily skin, which can be acne-sensitive.

Try Elemis Superfood CICA Clean Foam packed with fermented Superfoods and formulated with Micellar Technology, this soothing foaming cleanser easily removes all traces of makeup and impurities,

Gel cleansers

Suitable for you: if you prefer lightweight, hydrating products. Opt for a good cleansing gel which easily removes light make-up, moisturises your skin and leaves your skin feeling refreshed.

Skin type: normal, combination or oily skin and skin that is sensitive to redness and acne.

Try Dr Grandel Purigel, a gentle cleansing gel for a fresh and clear complexion.

Cream and lotion cleansers

Suitable for you: if you prefer cleansers that moisturise your skin. Cream and lotion cleansers have a silky texture and remove most types of makeup. If you use waterproof products you may need a separate makeup remover.

Skin type: normal, dry and sensitive skin.

Try Environ Gentle Cream Cleanser, a light water-soluble, pH balanced, soap-free cleanser, which is ideal for all skin types and conditions.

Oil-based cleansers

Suitable for you: if you prefer a thorough cleanser to remove heavy makeup or if you like to cleanse your skin twice. To double cleanse, first cleanse the skin with an oil-based cleanser followed by a light foaming, gel, cream or lotion cleanser. An oil-based cleanser quickly removes makeup and leaves the skin supple and soft.

Skin type: all skin types.

Try Elemis Nourishing Omega Rich Cleansing Oil which is blended with over 90% natural oils, our new clinically proven Cleansing Oil has been formulated to ensure it maintains the skinÕs delicate acid mantle at its optimum pH 4.5 - 5.5.

Milky cleansers

Suitable for you: if you require a super-gentle cleanser free of irritating ingredients that could cause aggravation.

Skin type: dry, sensitive skin or those who have active inflammation

Try Dr Grandel Cleansing Milk which gently removes dust particles and make-up residue.

Skin type: all skin types. Follow with a traditional facial cleanser to ensure that no leftover makeup stays on your skin.
